February 18, 2013

Well we sure had a terrific week!

First off, today way P-Day and it was Ballin´. We went bowling at ¨Japi-Max¨ (the J is silent, therefore it funcions phonetically) and it was a blast. It was a lot of fun to go bowling, I bowled a solid 60! At times it´s hard to enjoy myself, but I´ve been really working on (and I´d say Improving) with simply taking a step back, having fun, enjoying myself, living in the moment, and being a kid. All too often we let imperfect situations stress us, and diminish the joy that our Heavenly Father truly wants us to have. We´ve got some terrific zone leaders, Elder Chase and Elder Glade who are great examples, not only because they´re terrific missionaries who strive to give heed to the Holy Ghost, but because they´re so happy and lighthearted! They frequently simply act like children and do funny stuff, which is always great, considering Jesus suggested that we be as little children. Well, in short it´s something that I´m working on.

We´re working with some great people right now, who are all progressing in their respective ways. Lidia is awesome! She´ll be baptized the 27th, although I think to be honest it will be a tight squeeze with her date, we still need to teach some commandments, but she *Shouldn´t* have a problem with any of them. We will probably fast tomorrow for her to have the faith to be baptized when it´s apropriate (the 27th) and that with her current job situation, she can find the time to focus on Christ, feel free to join in. Please continue to pray for Lidia, her son Fabian, Leda, Gabriela, Lidia, the Rodriguez Family, Kyle and Natalia, and Claudio and Baraba. And the ward Clara Estrella! And the Retencion, ha!

I´d say the biggest challenge right now (well, A challenge, maybe not the biggest) is to to find the people with whom we´ve been teaching and helping, both with their schedules, and ours. Also becuase there are going to be more missionares here in Clara Estrella, (2 more!!) in a week! And we are looking for a house to rent like crazy! As of now, we´ve had some interesting nibbles, but just nibbles. So pray that we find a house THIS WEEK as well.

In divisions, we had an awesome lesson with a recente convert named Ruben. He LOVES so so much the LDM, is very intelligent, and reads it all the time- in the morning, at lunch, in the afternoon, before he goes to bed. He´s got a truly inspirational testimony and shares it a lot. He actually helped me to realize that I, as a missionary, have a powerful, happy testimony of the gospel as well as of Jesus, of the BOM, etc.

The power of the members is astounding. They are amazing, and are willing to support us, with lunches, and help us teach our investigators. We had a great experience with that, when 72 year old Hermana Sandoball accompanied us to an appointment, walking in the dusty streets of Santa Olga with 33 degress of heat (Celsius). She really helped Lidia, feel the importance and gain more testimony of the church, and is helping her have the courage to make the social change that is required, that is, a shift from Evangelical to LDS. It was a great lesson, and we could not have had near the spirit, nor influence without her.

I got to play the organ/piano again this past week, it was awesome. Keep up musical studies!

Love you all,
The Church is true, Jesus lives, The BOM Changes lives, God is our father, and the Restuarcion is continuing through the prophets that we have and have had. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Elder Tasso!
